William J. Demeter

Manville – William J. Demeter, 80, passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at RWJ of Somerset surrounded by his loving family. William was born in Rahway, NJ to the late John and Ann Demeter and was raised in West Carteret, NJ. After meeting his wife Theresa, they began their life together in Manville, NJ. William began his career as a Sheriff Officer for Somerset County Sheriff Office in Somerville, NJ and later was employed for over 25 years in the Road Department for Manville Public Works. In his spare time, William enjoyed collecting sports trading cards, especially baseball cards. He had a passion for Corvettes and his favorite dog, Tobi.  William also enjoyed deep sea fishing with friends and family. He will be greatly missed.

William is predeceased by his wife, Theresa, who passed in 2020.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving children, Sharon Stapert and her husband, Darrin, William J. Demeter and his wife, Tanya, Robert K. Demeter and his wife, Lori, and David J. Demeter and his wife, Maria and grandchildren, David, Jake, Billy Jr., Justin, Brianna, Bobby, Shane, Alexis, Amber, Kyle, and Kayla.

Visiting hours will be held from 4-7PM, on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at the Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 East Main Street, Bridgewater, NJ 08807 with a funeral service at 6:30PM. Cremation will be private.
