Virginia Kraeutler Obituary

Virginia D. Kraeutler
November 26, 1941-February 8, 2026

Virginia D. Kraeutler, 84, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2026, at her home in Branchburg, New Jersey, surrounded by her loving family.

Born Virginia Mary Dameo in Short Hills, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Rocco and Natalie Dameo. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, John “Jack” Kraeutler, and her brother, Rocque Dameo.

Virginia was a graduate of Millburn High School (Class of 1959) and went on to attend Mary Washington College. She cherished the lifelong friendships she formed in her early years, including those with her “Bridge Ladies” and the “Atta Girls.” Known affectionately as “Ginny” to her family and friends, she will be remembered for her warmth, humor, and kindness.

A dedicated volunteer, Virginia gave her time to the Visiting Nurse Association Rummage Sale in Far Hills. She was intelligent and quick-witted, with a deep love of books and history that made her both a natural teacher and a trusted source of knowledge. She had a passion for travel and created lasting memories exploring the world with friends and family, including a special trip to Italy with her sister Kathleen to visit extended family.

A two-time cancer survivor, Virginia demonstrated remarkable strength and resilience throughout her life. Her family is deeply grateful for the compassionate care and support provided by her caregiver, Dali Taniashvili.

Virginia is survived by her loving children, Caroline Cooper (Cary) Kimmel and John (Colleen) Cooper. She was a devoted grandmother to Owen (Lindsey) Kimmel, Dr. Duncan Kimmel, Katie Cooper, and Lainey Cooper, who affectionately knew her as “Mimi” and adored her deeply. She is also survived by her brother, Daniel (Joan) Dameo; her sister, Kathleen Dameo; and many cherished nieces and nephews.

She also leaves behind her beloved and constant companion, Freddy, her cat.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Virginia’s name to:

World Central Kitchen
or
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

May her memory be a blessing.
