Vincent Stamile, Jr.

Vincent Stamile, Jr., 82, died peacefully at his home in South Bound Brook on March 1, surrounded by his loving family. 

Born on October 2, 1938 in Plainfield, he grew up in South Plainfield and Piscataway.

He married Sylvia (nee Paytas) in 1959 and moved his family to South Bound Brook in 1967. 

Possessing a tireless work ethic, he began his career working with his father in the Stamile Bros. Excavating business. He started his own excavating and demolition businesses, including Belgian block sales, and trucks and parts sales. Both of his sons joined him in his business, eventually taking over ownership in 2007, although Vince continued working alongside them for as long as he was able.

He was a patriotic American, serving his country in the National Guard and the Army during the 1960s. He was an active member of American Legion Post 363, filling several positions including Post Commander. 

He was an honored lifetime member of the Italian American League of South Plainfield. 

He had a generous spirit and was a friend to all. He was often recognized for this trait. With his sons, he was awarded the Star Award for volunteerism in helping his neighbors. He received multiple commendations from the town of SBB being described as one of the best examples of a citizen helping his community.

He loved animals and appreciated nature, especially on his business property located on the Delaware-Raritan Canal.

He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Church in SBB.

He is pre-deceased by his father, Vincent, Sr., mother, Victoria, stepmother, Helen, and brother Harold.

He is survived by his wife Sylvia, with whom he was married for 61 years, sons Vincent III (Aggie) and Rick, of SBB, daughter Lisa of Princeton, brothers Anthony (Irene) of South Carolina and Bruce (Nancy) of Arizona, granddaughters Brittany Reta (Thomas) of PA, Shannon (Jonathan) of SBB, great granddaughter Ava of SBB, brother- and sister-in-law Thomas and Gloria Saverino of SBB, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, March 4, 2021 from 5-7 pm at the Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 E. Main St. Bridgewater, NJ. Prayers will be said 10 am Friday, March 5 at the funeral home followed by burial at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Hillsborough.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to one of the Parkinson’s Disease charities.
