Theresa "Marie" Salvatore

Theresa "Marie" Salvatore, 79, of South Bound Brook, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 14, 2025.

Born in Clinton, NJ, Marie spent much of her life in the Middlesex County area before settling in South Bound Brook, where she created a warm and loving home for her family in the house built by her son, Walter. . She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend — but most proudly, a full-time Nana.

Marie lived a beautiful life centered around the people she loved. She was generous to a fault, fiercely proud of her grandbabies, and always ready to share a laugh. She enjoyed the simple pleasures in life: playing the lottery, doting on animals, and staying stylish — she would only dance in heels and was lovingly particular about her hair. The only time she was ever truly stern was when her favorite show, General Hospital, was on — during those moments, the house paused right along with her.

She was a longtime member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Ladies Auxiliary and spent cherished time playing softball in a local league with her daughter Mary. Her spirit, warmth, and humor will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Marie was predeceased by her beloved son, Walter F. Smith, Jr. She leaves behind her husband of 38 years, Joseph T. “JoJo” Salvatore of South Bound Brook; her daughter Mary Smith and spouse Lori Bourbonais of Lansing, MI; grandchildren AJ, Dustin, Heather, Jacquelynn, Brittney, and Jessica; great-grandchildren Trent and Payton; and her goddaughter, Dawn Antieri.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at the Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 E. Main Street, Bridgewater, NJ 08807.  A Funeral Service will follow at 10:30 AM at St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church in Hillsborough. Interment will take place at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
