Steven Wierzbicki Obituary

Master Sergeant (Ret.) Steven A. Wierzbicki

March 22, 2025 | Age 84

Steven A. Wierzbicki, 84, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, March 22, 2025. Born and raised in Finderne, NJ, he was one of seven children of the late Konstine and Helena Wierzbicki.

A proud patriot, Steve dedicated his life to serving his country. A 1958 graduate of St. Peter’s High School in New Brunswick, a Saint Peter’s High School sports Hall of Fame member of the 1956 undefeated football team, and avid baseball player, he soon enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served with distinction for 28 years. A Vietnam War veteran, he completed two tours of duty and spent the majority of his military career stationed at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, retiring in 1986 with the rank of Master Sergeant. A disabled veteran, Steve remained deeply committed to his fellow servicemen and women. He was an active Department Service Officer with the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and a life member of both American Legion Post 12 in Somerville and VFW Post 2290 in Manville.

Following his military service, Steve made his home in Washington, NJ, where he lived for most of his life. He was a devoted husband to his late wife, Ann Wierzbicki, and a beloved brother, uncle, and friend to many. He was predeceased by his siblings Andy Wierzbicki and Teri Thornton.

Steve leaves behind a loving family, including his siblings: Trudy Goodwin of Florida, Joseph Wierzbicki (Katie) of California, Cecilia Wierzbicki of Finderne, and Monica Beck (Billy) of Finderne. He will also be dearly missed by his countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2025, from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 East Main Street, Bridgewater, NJ 08807. A prayer service will take place at 8:00 AM on Friday, March 28, 2025, at the funeral home, followed by a 9:00 AM Funeral Mass at Christ the Redeemer Parish in Manville, NJ. Interment with military honors will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery.

In honor of Steve’s lifetime of service, his family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) American Legion Post 12 in Somerville or VFW Post 2290 in Manville.

Steve’s unwavering dedication to his country and his family will never be forgotten. "Aim High... Fly-Fight-Win."
