Rose Firetto Obituary

Rose Firetto – Toms River NJ – Rose Firetto (Nigito), 95, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2022.  Rose aka Rosie was born in Elizabeth to the late Joseph and Cecelia Nigito and grew up in Elizabeth, New Jersey.  She lived in Rahway for 31 years.  Rose was active in St. Mark’s Church in Rahway where she sang in the choir.  She loved to cook and her favorite hobby was feeding her friends and family.  Rose was famous for her lasagna and her Italian cookies, and at Christmas everyone looked forward to her fruit cakes aka “the pita”.  She spent 10 years wintering in Florida where her she was loved by all of her friends who called her “Little Rose” and was known as the “Bocce Ball Queen”.  While she was at the Haven Assisted Living the last four years, she was known for her smile and her great Rumikub skill. If someone came into her apartment, they could not leave until they took a piece of candy out of her candy dish. 
Rose was predeceased by her loving husband of 56 years, Alfonso, her three brothers, John, Peter and Joseph Nigito and her sister-in-laws Josephine and Wilma Nigito.  Rose leaves behind to cherish her memory her son Paul, his wife Kathleen, Joseph, his wife Patricia, her daughter Sandra Esolda, her husband Mark, seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.  She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. 


Visiting hours will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, June 24, 2022, at the Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 E. Main Street, Bridgewater, New Jersey.  Prayers will be said at 9 a.m., Saturday, June 25, 2022 at the funeral home followed by a 10 a.m. funeral Mass at Blessed Sacrament Church in Martinsville, New Jersey. Cremation will be held privately.
