Ron Pasler, beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away on October 8, 2024, at the age of 77. A lifelong resident of New Jersey, Ron began his journey in West New York, later purchasing a home in Union with his cherished wife, Jewel. Their journey together took them to Berkeley Heights and ultimately to Canal Walk in Somerset, where they settled after Ron retired from his fulfilling career as a Claims Manager with NJ Transit, a role he dedicated nearly 30 years to.
Ron and Jewel shared more than 50 wonderful years, their lives woven together through a shared love for dancing—disco being their favorite escape. In 1984, their joy expanded with the birth of their son, Gregory. Ron reveled in fatherhood, spending countless hours on the basketball court and baseball diamond with Gregory, and taking immense pride in coaching his son’s sports teams.
Later in life, Ron embraced his passion for basketball, eagerly joining a men’s league where he played two or three times a week, many times with his son, relishing the camaraderie and competition. But his interests extended beyond the court; he found joy cycling through New York City, capturing the vibrancy and oddities of urban life with his camera. Through his lens, he immortalized and captured the city's stories, celebrating the fascinating people and places that sparked his curiosity.
Ron will be deeply missed by all who knew him, remembered for his unwavering positivity, infectious sense of humor, and gentle spirit. He is survived by his devoted wife Jewel, son Gregory, Gregory’s fiancée Angela Halverson and her children, Josie and Warren, as well as his sister-in-law Denise Petrone and her husband Lou, sister-in-law Stacy Thelin and her husband Dan, and beloved nieces and nephew, Katie, Darah, Danielle, and Louis. Ron’s legacy of love and laughter will forever resonate in the hearts of those he touched.
A memorial visitation will be held from 9am-11am with a service at 10:30am on Monday, October 14, 2024 at the Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 East Main Street, Bridgewater, NJ 08807.
