Robert Berger
Basking Ridge, NJ
It is with great sadness that we share that Robert Berger, 89, a loving husband, father, grandfather (“Boopie”), brother, uncle, friend, and teammate, passed away December 21, 2025. Son of the late Benedict and Fay Berger, Bob was born in Brooklyn, NY, he lived in Edison and then moved to Basking Ridge 14 years ago. He worked as a glazier for more than 50 years and held various leadership positions in Glaziers Local 1183.
Next to his family, Bob’s primary loves were baseball and softball. He was an avid player since childhood and played softball until the end, amassing 7 senior softball world series rings. Bob also coached Edison Angels Girls Softball and Midtown Little League Baseball, both in Edison. He was an avid fan of the Brooklyn Dodgers (never forgiving them when they went West) and the New York Yankees.
Bob’s hobbies included crafting model airplanes and dollhouses for his grandchildren, as well as landscaping and delivering bagels for the family. He was also a lifelong fan of rock & roll, with the Rolling Stones and the Beatles particular favorites.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Rose; his three children Tracy (John) Wagner, David (Angeles) Berger, and Laurie (Mike) Bizub; his sister Shelly (Nate) Mark, his 5 grandchildren, Morgan (Tommy) Bellas, Claudia Berger, Hailey Bizub, Joseph Wagner and Juliana Wagner and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Private funeral services have been entrusted to the Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 East Main Street, Bridgewater, NJ 08807. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
