Rita Stella Wall

Rita Stella Wall, 77, of Franklin Township, Somerset, passed away on June 2, 2026. Rita was born on May 19, 1949, in Akron, Ohio. She worked as a billing specialist at UPS from 1983 until her retirement in 2010.

Rita was a dedicated wife, mother and friend.  She volunteered tirelessly throughout her children’s education, chaperoning class trips, working in the cafeteria, and working as a teacher’s assistant in the elementary school.  She was involved with the Franklin High School Marching Band Parents from 1992 to 1996, volunteering as a chaperon and on the equipment bus. She was an avid motorcycle rider and an active honorary member of the Blue Knights NJ Chapter III since 2010,  where she was elected to the position of Quartermaster.

Rita was a persistent learner and taught herself many different skills throughout her life.  She taught herself needlepoint and would sew small pictures of birds and children at play.  She used this skill later on to make complex Halloween costumes for her children as well as stuffed toy rabbits and Pac-Men.

In her spare time, Rita enjoyed reading, especially horror and suspense novels.  She would also engage in experimenting with technology.  She loved installing and learning to use cameras and smart devices (much to the chagrin of her husband).  She also enjoyed watching old movies and TV shows.  
Rita is survived by her husband of 55 years, Robert; her children, Michael (wife Angie), Brian (wife Lauren) and Steven; three grandchildren, Michael Jr., Alden and James; her sister, Margaret Maynor; and her nieces, Kathy Drane, Elizabeth Jones and Jackie Lewis. 

Visitation will be held from 9:00 - 11:00AM on Friday, June 12, 2026, at Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 East Main St, Bridgewater, NJ 08807. A funeral mass will follow at 11:30 AM at St. Bernard's Church in Bridgewater. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Church Cemetery.
