Prudence J. Fletcher
Bridgewater — Prudence J. Fletcher, 83, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at The Bristol at Somerset.
Prudence was born and raised in Painesville, Ohio, to the late Frank and Edith Henck. In 1964, she moved to Plainfield, New Jersey, where she began her lifelong career in education. After marrying her beloved husband, Daniel, they resided in South Plainfield before settling in Bridgewater, where they raised their family together.
Prudence dedicated many years as a Special Education teacher with the Bridgewater-Raritan School District, where she made a lasting impact on countless students and colleagues. She later retired from teaching after a fulfilling career. In her spare time, Prudence enjoyed travelling the world, attending symphonic and operatic performances, Broadway plays and hiking the many trails and mountains in NJ and the world. She was an ardent volunteer for local programs in Somerset County, especially the Home Sharing program in Bridgewater, NJ, which awarded her with many achievement awards for her many years of service.
She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Daniel Fletcher; her children, Chris Fletcher and his wife, Megan, Tim Fletcher and his wife, Kate, and Allison Fletcher and her husband, Mike; her cherished grandchildren, Natasha, Ben, Andrew, and Avery; and her siblings, Frank Henck, Jon Henck, and Priscilla Kehoe. She was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Edith Henck.
Cremation was held privately under the care of Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 East Main Street, Bridgewater, NJ 08807, a memorial service will be held at a later date. A special thank you to all of her life-long friends who brightened her life, as well as her final days.
