Crown Point, NY- Peter Cueli, 81, passed away at his home in Crown Point, NY on April 19, 2024. Peter was born and raised in the Bronx, NY. He was formerly of Hillsborough, NJ before moving to Crown Point, NY in 2007. Peter enlisted in the United States Airforce and was stationed in the Philippines during the Vietnam war. Peter graduated from Rutgers University in 1973 with a degree in Physics and became a brilliant chemist and an inventor, having been granted many United States patents. He worked at Crown Roll Leaf, Inc, where he contributed to developing the base foil for the 1985 cover of National Geographic featuring a holographic image of Africa’s Taung Child, viewed as the first commercially successful holographic production in the world. After retiring, he worked as a consultant for many years.
Peter loved boating, fishing and time near or on the water, especially Lake Champlain and Lake George. He enjoyed history, telling stories about his interesting life and world travels, watching movies and learning to cook in more recent years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Crown Point.
Peter is predeceased by his loving wife Vera, parents Victor and Mary, his brother Manuel and sister Marie. He is survived by many nieces, nephews and friends who will greatly miss him.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10am on Friday, May 10, 2024 at St. Joseph’s Parish in East Millstone, NJ followed by burial of ashes at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Hillsborough, NJ. Services entrusted to Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 East Main Street, Bridgewater, NJ 08807.
