Patrick Paulis Obituary

Patrick Paulis
Hillsborough- Patrick Paulis, 53, died on Sunday, May 15, 2022 at JFK Hospital in Edison. Born in Glenn Ridge, NJ he was the son of Robert and Agnes Paulis. Patrick was raised in Middlesex, NJ and graduated from Middlesex High School.
Patrick loved his family and was proud to spend time his sister Marylou and her husband, Mark, when they lived in Frenchtown and was thrilled when they moved closer to him in Bound Brook so he could visit with his nephew, Marek and neice, Katharine.
Patrick was a proud graduate of Penn State and loved his times with Kent, Jason and Amy. Patrick and his brother were fun sports rivals as Robert graduated from Rutgers University. We were so blessed his brother visited this Fall and they both watched the Rutgers v Penn State Football game together.
Patrick was a clever and encouraging Teacher of English and worked in Brick Township, DelVal HS and eventually found his most loved job at Union County Vocational Technical High School.  Patrick taught for 25 years.  He was a tremendous writer and thinker.  He enjoyed every Marvel Film and was a voracious reader. In 2020 he was forced to retire due to illness that was only worsened by the Pademic. Patrick survived infection, illness, Covid-19 and was able to make it home to his family after being hospitalized seven long months. Patrick lived at home for the past two years which was a testament to his courage and strength.

Patrick met his future wife at a Toastmasters meeting held at the Somerset County Library. Stacey's friend Michelle brought her to the meeting and from then they were always together. Their first date was to the annual Middlesex Fair. Stacey said he was the kindest and most patient person who always brought great conversations and humor to everyone.

Patrick married Stacey in 1996 and they lived in Dunellen and Bridgewater before moving to Hillsborough 20 years ago. Patrick and Stacey were blessed to live in such a caring and generous neighborhood as many of his neighbors pitched in with friends and family to support Patrick and the family, especiallyin these last years.  They are forever grateful.
Patrick was especially appreciative of the care from his doctors and nurses and at home care provided by his mother, Agnes, and his father in law, Lenny.  His children were there to care for Patrick too providing help and fun memories.
Patrick and Stacey had two children, Jonathon Leonard and Vivian Alaina.  These two brightened his life, especially when Patrick was at home. He was proud his son, Jack was accepted into the Somerset County Vo-Tech into Health Occupations.  Vivian has always been Daddy's Angel and he treasured exuberant personality. His dog, Kenney was rescued by Patrick and would faithfully sleep at his side.
He is predeceased by his father, Robert Paulis in 2020 and his Uncle, Edward Daly, and grandmother, Agnes Daly and Grandmom Betty Paulis.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 26 years, Stacey (Marcinkowski) Paulis; children, Jonathon and Vivian; mother, Agnes Paulis; and siblings, Robert Paulis and wife, Shannon, and MaryLou Nowak and husband, Mark and his in laws Charlotte and Lenny and his sister in law, Diane Collis, and her children. He loved his many relatives including aunts and uncles and cousins.
He will be missed by his nieces and nephews Marek, Katharine, and Connor.
