Born in South Bound Brook, New Jersey, Patty was the daughter of the late Woodrow and Eleanor Ernest. Patty is survived by her beloved husband, Anton Lear, and daughters Kathleen VanArsdale and Rebecca Hollins. She was a proud grandmother to five grandchildren. Patty and Andy were married for 42 years and resided in Hillsborough before recently moving to Bridgewater.
A graduate of Bound Brook High School in 1954, she worked many years as a computer programmer for Prudential Insurance and continued with her job as a computer operator locally for Somerset County until she retired in the early 2000s. Patty had a love for quilting and crocheting and spent much of her time making quilts and afghans. She will lovingly be remembered for gifting her beautiful blankets to all her family members. Patty also loved to read and do jigsaw puzzles. She amazed everyone with her ability to go through a book in just a few days and could be found diligently working at her puzzle table in the afternoons. Patty was known for her kindness and generosity and glowing heart. She loved bright colors and patterns which showed in the colorful quilts she made. She will be greatly missed by the family that she held dear to her heart.
Visitation will be held from 9-11AM on Thursday, August 7, 2025 at the Bridgewater Funeral Home and will conclude with a funeral service at 11AM. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery in East Millstone, NJ.
