Mary Elizabeth Musumeci

Manville - Mary E. (Belevich) Musumeci, age 92 of Manville NJ, passed away Thursday, June 23, 2022 at the Elms of Cranbury.  Mary was born and raised in New Brunswick  before marrying her beloved husband Peter in 1954 and settling to their lifelong home in Manville NJ in 1958 where they raised their sons and played a large part in the lives of their grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mary worked for Electrolux for several years before spending 20 years with the Somerset County Board of Social Services where she retired in 1995.

Mary was well recognized for her quiet and generous spirit, she didn’t like the spotlight; however was very quick to help others often putting them before herself.  Her love of flowers was noticeable within and around their home, impatiens, geraniums, tulips and daffodils were among her favorites. For years Mary could be found in Seaside keeping watch on her sons at the beach and then bankrolling them on the boardwalk. When her boys were grown she and Peter would join her sister and brother in law on the Point Pleasant boardwalk weekly.

Mary was a night owl, it was not unusual for her to spend hours on the phone with her sister well after midnight talking about their recent bargains on QVC.  In 2017 Mary moved to the Elms of Cranbury where she and her sister could room together and were a force for good, advocating for their peers.  Mary’s mind and memory were sharp, it was no surprise that she was a frequent winner in the bingo room.  Though quiet, she had a lovely voice and loved to sing to her grandchildren and later in choir for the Christmas Concert at the Elms.  

Mary is predeceased by her beloved husband Peter in 2009;  her parents, Dimitry & Anna Belevich, loving sister Helen (Belevich) Pikus and her husband Charlie Pikus; her brother Paul Belevich (and his wife Helen Belevich).Mary leaves behind to cherish her memory, her two sons Glenn Musumeci and Thomas Musumeci (his wife Michele); grandchildren Justin, Troy, Lauren, Caitlin and Brian; great grandchildren Troy Jr., Giovanni, Leyland, Loni, Savannah and Jasmine; spoiled grand dogs Trixie and Scooter;  many loving nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends from 5-8PM  on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at the Bridgewater Funeral Home located on 707 East Main St., Bridgewater, NJ 08807. Funeral services will be held 10AM on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at the funeral home, followed by burial at  Sacred Heart Cemetery in Hillsborough.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Somerset Regional Animal Shelter.
