MARY TERESA SERBIN

Mary Teresa Serbin was born on July 21, 1920 to Susan and Peter Cichowic in McAdoo, Pennsylvania and passed away on March 23, 2020 at Robert Wood Johnson Somerset Hospital.  She graduated from the local grammar school and high school.  She then attended and graduated from St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing in Reading, Pennsylvania as a Registered Nurse.  She went on to St. Mary of Nazareth Hospital in Chicago, Illinois to graduate as an Anesthetist.  She married John Serbin and moved to South Bound Brook, New Jersey.  She worked at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville, New Jersey as an anesthetist and also did private duty nursing.  She retired as a nurse from Dr. Abramson’s office in Somerville, New Jersey where she did allergy testing. 

She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth, who lives in South Bound Brook and her son, Vincent, who lives in Lake Katrine, New York, her sister, Eleanor, who lives in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and several nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her husband John, her brothers Theodore and Martin, her sister, Betty, and her parents, Susan and Peter.

She was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Rosary Altar Society, South Bound Brook Senior Citizens, and the Pieced Together Quilters.  She enjoyed quilting, needlework, and was an excellent seamstress.  She also loved watching the Mets games.

A private viewing will be held at the Bridgewater Funeral Home on Thursday (March 26, 2020) due to the virus.  A memorial Mass will be at Our Lady of Mercy Church at a later date when the priests are allowed to open up the churches and say Mass again.
