Marie Maurer

Marie Maurer, 89, of Bridgewater, NJ passed away peacefully on December 11, 2023. Marie was born April 8, 1934 to Joseph and Rachel Sorrentino in Bayonne, NJ.

She grew up in a large family with 5 brothers and 3 sisters and maintained close relationships with her siblings.

Marie married the love of her life, Theodor Maurer on September 23, 1956. They settled in Deer Park, Long Island where they raised their 3 boys. Marie and Ted were true partners and best friends, blessed with a 66 year marriage. 

Marie was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Generous, compassionate and empathetic, she was a great listener who would easily make friends with strangers. Marie was a fabulous cook, regularly welcoming and entertaining friends and family in her home. She loved spending time with her family including her 3 sons and was very proud of her 4 grandchildren whom she spoke of often.

Marie had a strong faith and was an active member of the New Apostolic Church community.   

Her beloved husband passed away in October 2023. She is survived by her sons Philip Maurer, Mark (Anabela) Maurer and John (Kim) Maurer, brother Fred (Ottilie) Sorrentino, brother Michael Sorrentino, and grandchildren Michael (Andrea) Maurer, Megan Maurer, Matthew Maurer and Luke Maurer.  She also leaves behind many extended family members and friends whom she loved and cared for deeply.
