Louise Lacerda Obituary

Louise Lacerda, 94, of North Plainfield, NJ, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Dickson City, PA, to the late Thomas and Anna Hughes, Louise lived in Newark, Hillside, and Union before settling in North Plainfield. A devoted homemaker, she dedicated her life to caring for her family, creating a home filled with love and warmth. Louise married her beloved husband Jack in 1949 right after the war. Dad is a WWII veteran of the United States Navy. They have been deeply devoted to each other for 75 years.

Mom worked as a switchboard operator for 18 years in Elizabeth, NJ until she retired. Mom’s past time she enjoyed watching John Wayne western films with her son Ricky and in her younger days she loved playing cards and going to bingo with her brother Bobby, her sister Roseann, her son Jesse, and her mother Annie. She enjoyed going to Seaside Park, NJ with her children and her family for her annual vacations. She loved spending time with her family around Christmas more than anything else and going out dancing with her beloved husband Jack on New Year’s Eve. She will live forever in our hearts, the memories we will keep forever.

Louise is survived by her beloved husband of 75 years, Jacinto Lacerda; her children, Jesse (Andrea) Lacerda, Carl (Linda) Lacerda, Rick Lacerda, and Maria Elena (Mark, decd) Quick; six cherished grandchildren Carl, Michael, Lindsey, Vinny, Joey, and Jacob; her goddaughter Jackie Louise; eleven adored great-grandchildren; and many adored nieces and nephews.
