Leokadia Gleba Obituary

“If roses grow in heaven,

Lord please pick a bunch for us,

Place them in my Mother’s arms

And tell her they’re from us”

Leokadia Gleba was born on November 20th, 1935 and raised in the small Polish village of Jawory-Wielkopole near Ostroleka.  After graduating from school, she met her future husband, Henryk, and started a family.  They had two daughters, Bozena and Jola.  After Henryk defected the communist system, Leokadia raised her daughters by herself in Olsztyn, Poland.  The family was re-joined together after thirteen years of separation in California, United States.  They chose Sarasota, Florida to spend their golden years.  Together they enjoyed gardening, cooking, and meticulously caring for their property, especially enjoying Christmas Season decorations.  After Henryk passed away in 2012, she bravely faced everyday live on her own.  Her outgoing and social personality helped her cope with the loss of her husband.  She enjoyed the company of her family and friends, especially Michal.  In early 2019 Leokadia was diagnosed with a terminal illness, lung cancer, and was given only few months to live.  However, God had a different plan and let her family and friends enjoy her loving heart, beautiful smile and company for more than another year.  Leokadia passed away peacefully among her loved ones on August 21st, 2020.  A loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she is survived by her two daughters, Bozena and her husband Andrzej Daukszewicz and Jola and her husband Boguslaw (Bogdan) Wrzesien, along with her four grandchildren – Krystian and Damian Wrzesien, and Nicole with her newly wedded husband Simon and Natalie Daukszewicz and also by her great grandson, Noah.  She will be truly missed by all who knew her.

“Kochaj Matke bo masz jedna,

Czy bogata czy tez biedna,

Bo gdy serce Matki stracisz,

Szczescia nigdy nie zobaczysz”
