Leo Thomas Farrell, Sr.

Leo Thomas Farrell passed into eternity on February 15, 2022, he was 85. Born in Carbondale, PA in 1937, son of the late Clement and Isabel Carden Farrell and husband for 58 years of the former Mary Grace Robinson.

Leo always put his family first and had a natural ability to make those around him feel special. He had a wonderful sense of humor, a smile to brighten anyone’s day, and a quiet strength.

He was educated at Benjamin Franklin High School in Carbondale, PA. He went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Army and spent time in Germany. He settled in Hillsborough, NJ with his wife and raised his family there. Leo was employed by Egan Machinery as a machinist.

After retiring he moved with his wife to Herriman, Utah for several years to be near his daughter, son-in-law and his three prized grandchildren.

In addition to wife Mary Grace, he is survived by two children, Leo Thomas Farrell Jr.; Colleen Gurgui (Joseph); grandchildren, Olivia Janee Gurgui, Joseph Michael Gurgui, and Natalie Isabella Gurgui; brother, Joseph; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Peggy; and brothers, Jack, Robert, Thomas, and James.

The family extends gratitude to all the compassionate caregivers at Laurel Circle Retirement Community in Bridgewater, NJ and the Hospice team.

The Mass will be Friday, February 25, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. in Church of the Immaculate Conception in Somerville, NJ with military honors to follow.
