Judith Beekman, 75, of Piscataway, passed away at home surrounded by loved ones on the morning of Saturday, August 24th, 2024.
Judy was born in Plainfield, NJ, and spent the early part of her life in South Plainfield and Sayreville before making Piscataway her home for the last 60+ years. She made a living working in food service and catering, including working in several delis around town. In her later years, she worked for Sodexo in various school cafeterias in the Piscataway School District where many knew her as “Grandma Judy”. One year, a group of students dedicated a project to her and named her as their hero. This in itself shows how much she was admired and the kind of impact she left on everyone she met.
Judy also dedicated her life to taking care of her family and her beloved girls. She was tough on the outside, but the most caring and selfless person on the inside. She had a heart of gold and would do anything she could to help anyone, even a complete stranger. Those who knew her, loved her, and described her as a firecracker.
Judy was predeceased by her son Dennis Marko in 2009, her mother, Florence Beekman, her sister Jeanette Meyer and her husband, Richie, and her brother, Kenneth Beekman.
She is survived by her daughter, Tracey Marko, her granddaughters, Taylor Sanchez, and her husband Marques, Courtney Marko, and Jessica Collins, and her brother William Beekman, and his wife Joy.
In honor of her wishes, services will be private. Please consider making a donation in her name to St. Jude’s, Angels Community Outreach in Pitman, NJ, or an animal shelter of your choosing.
Private funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 E. Main Street, Bridgewater, NJ 08807.
