Joseph Anthony Monteleone was born April 30th, 1934, in New York City.
He quit school and joined the Navy so he could help support his family. He was on the Battleship Goodrich during the Korean War. Upon his return he got his GED and got a job as a computer programmer for Bell Labs, later to become AT&T.
He met Annette at work, and they were married in June of 1956. The family, Joanne, Carl, Maria and Jospeh, moved to NJ from NY in 1966.
Joe was very involved with family and civic responsibilities. He was a volunteer fireman, Jaycee, served in the church, speech writing winner, a lifetime member of the VFW, and was exalted ruler of, and a lifetime member of, the Fraternal Order of Elks. He is also in the 1970 edition of The Most Outstanding Young Men in America.
Joe was an articulate carpenter, artist, pool shooter and philosopher. A great husband, father, granddad, great granddad and friend to all. He lived his life according to his self-conceived 4 principles:
-Keep God with you - wherever you go
-Don’t do anything that will dishonor your family name
-Be respectful to those you are with
-And don’t do anything that will bring disrespect to yourself
Visiting hours will be held from 1-4PM on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at the Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 E. Main Street, Bridgewater, NJ 08807. A funeral mass will be offered 10AM on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at St. Joseph's Church in Bound Brook followed by burial at Bound Brook Cemetery.
