John B Veneroso

John Baptiste Archangelo Veneroso Finderne - John B. Veneroso, 79, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, March 15, 2023 at RWJUH-New Brunswick. Son of the late John and Florence Marie Veneroso, John was born in Somerville and was a lifelong resident of Finderne. John was a graduate of St. Joseph's Grammar School in Bound Brook and Bridgewater Raritan High School. John began his career at Johns Manville before starting his own business, Finderne Trucking (formerly Finderne Excavating), which he owned and operated for more than 50 years. During his career, John plowed snow for the State of New Jersey, hauled blacktop, and excavated for several local housing developments and construction projects. He also maintained Sacred Heart Cemetery along with other cemeteries in the area. He was a lifetime member and past president of Finderne Fire Company having graduated from New Jersey State Fire College in 1970 and Somerset County Fire School in 1976. An antique model Lionel train, car, and truck enthusiast, John enjoyed adding pieces to his extensive collection. He also loved gardening, growing his own tomatoes and peppers every summer on the same gardening plot his father had taught him on. A devout Catholic, John served as an usher at Immaculate Conception Church, Somerville, for many years. He also was an Honorary Benefactor and Alumnus of SS. Cyril and Methodius, a seminary, which graduated its final class in 2022. John is predeceased by his siblings, Thomas Veneroso and Philomena Karpinecz. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 57 years, Dianne (Gavich) Veneroso of Bridgewater; children, Dena Lynn Mahoney (Robb) of Lakeway, TX, Natalie Longua (Christopher) of Tewksbury, Karen Rosenthal (Michael) of Califon; and cherished grandchildren, Katelyn, Caroline, Grace, Summer, Hannah, Ellie, and numerous cousins. Visiting hours will be held from 4-7PM on Monday, March 20, 2023 at the Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 East Main Street, Bridgewater, NJ 08807. Prayers will be said 8AM on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at the funeral home followed by a 9AM Mass at Immaculate Conception Church in Somerville and interment will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Manville.
