John E. Fagan

John Fagan of Bridgewater, passed away at home on July 14, 2026 after a battle with cancer. He was 68 years old.

John was born on February 11, 1958 in Queens, NY to Kenneth and Eileen Fagan. He attended Archbishop Malloy High School in Queens, NY and graduated from Bridgewater Raritan High School West in 1976. He graduated from Rutgers University in 1980 with a degree in Business Administration and Accounting.

Golf was a special part of John's life. A talented player, respected instructor, and dedicated PGA professional, the game brought him many lifelong friendships and cherished memories.

After a standout career on the Bridgewater-Raritan High School golf team, John went on to play collegiate golf at Rutgers University, where he was a four-year letterman and served as team captain for two seasons.

John enjoyed a distinguished 44-year career as a PGA Member. He spent 35 years at Raritan Valley Country Club in Bridgewater, New Jersey, including 28 years as Head Golf Professional. Throughout his career, he was known not only for his skill and dedication to the game but also for the relationships he built with members and colleagues. Above all, John was a proud man whose strength, determination, and resilience defined him.

He is survived by his three children, John Jr. and his wife Caroline of New York City, Jacqueline of Stamford, CT, and Jillian and her fiancé Logan Hill of Charlotte, NC whom he loved. He was the beloved brother of Kenneth Fagan Jr. of Fairfax, VA, Annemarie Caparella of Noblesville, IN, Elizabeth Maher and her husband, William of Milford, MA and Marguerite Smith and her husband, Edward of Ocean Gate, NJ. He was also a devoted and loving uncle to his nieces and nephews and a cherished great-uncle to his great nieces and great-nephews, all of whom will remember his generosity, sense of humor, and the special bond he shared with them.

Those who knew John, affectionately known as Dude, will remember his love of golf, his unwavering pride, and the quiet strength with which he lived his life. His memory will be carried in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

A memorial mass will be offered 10AM on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at St. Bernard of Clairvoux Church, 500 Rte 22 East, Bridgewater, NJ 08807. Arrangement are by Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 E. Main Street, Bridgewater, NJ 08807.
