John Edward Campanello passed away at his home in South Bound Brook on February 28, 2026 at the age of 76.
Above all, John was devoted to his wife Jackie – the love of his life. Their bond was a true testament to partnership, loyalty and enduring love. Together they built a life grounded in respect, caring, strength and unwavering support.
John’s career started in 1977 working at Thul’s Auto Parts and he continued working for multiple repair shops throughout his life. Through his work at Denson’s Auto Repair, he built a reputation for excellence, honesty and unmatched skill. John was very organized and meticulous in everything he worked at. He was truly a very gifted mechanic. He wasn’t just a mechanic, he was a craftsman and an innovator. He had a rare ability to understand machines on a deeper level, seeing solutions where others only saw problems.
Beyond his profession, John was a loyal and genuine friend. He had a way of making people feel welcome and valued, often sharing stories, laughter and hard-earned wisdom. Whether in the garage or among friends, his presence brought comfort and strength.
John played guitar and sang in a band for a short time. He was known for his love of music.
John’s legacy lives on, not only in the work he leaves behind, but in the lives he touched and the people he inspired. He will be remembered for his dedication, ingenuity and the kindness he showed to everyone around him.
John was predeceased by his parents, John and Helen Campanello and his sister Helen John.
He left behind his beloved wife, Jacquelyn Anne (Bauer) Campanello, his stepdaughters, Roxanne Maliszewski and Sheri Lynn Morgante. Sheri’s husband James and three grandchildren: James Robert, Ryan James and Leah Marie. His grandchildren loved and admired him. To them, he was known as Papa John.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
