Joan Fernicola Obituary

Joan Adelle Fernicola

July 1942 – December 2024

Joan passed peacefully surrounded by her family. Joan was born in Passaic, New Jersey to Adelle and Tom Farley. Durning Joan’s time with her parents she relocated home twenty-two times as her father’s business required them to live close to his covered territory. While living in Livingston, New Jersey she met her husband, Vincent Fernicola, at the job where they both worked. After a short romance she was engaged and were married at the age of 20 years old. Joan celebrated her 21st birthday while on her honeymoon. Once again Joan moved, this time to New Providence, New Jersey where they lived in three different homes for over 40 years. A few years later the couple would welcome their first son, Vincent Jr., and then 3 years later their second Thomas was born. Raising their children and saving for retirement, they once again moved, this time to Lakeville, Pennsylvania. This is where they enjoyed their retirement with close friends both old and new. Just before COVID hit, they moved back to New Jersey to be closer to their family. Joan and Vinnie this past summer celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary. Joan is survived by her husband Vincent, her two sons, Vinnie and Tom, their wives Susan and Amy, and her grandchildren Christopher, Lauren, and Jonathan. Visiting hours will be held from 3-7 PM on Friday, December 20, 2024 at the Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 E. Main Street, Bridgewater, NJ 08807. Prayers will be said 9AM on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at the funeral home followed by a 10AM Mass at St. Bernard Church in Bridgewater. Entombment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery.
