Jane Mihalick

Jane Mihalick, 79, of Piscataway, NJ, passed away on Monday, July 22, 2024, with her family by her side. Born in Brooklyn, Jane spent her childhood in West Orange, and always held many happy memories of growing up surrounded by her many cousins, aunts and uncles, and grandparents. Jane married in 1966 and lived briefly in Parsippany, Flemington, and Mountaintop, Pennsylvania, before settling in Piscataway in 1981. She worked for many years for the Rutgers University Libraries, which was fitting, given her love of books and reading. Jane was an excellent cook, and enjoyed crocheting and quilting and cheering on the Yankees (starting every November, she would count down the days until pitchers and catchers reported for spring training). In her later years she became a fan of British television, and she almost always had at least one book she was in the midst of reading.

Throughout her life, people always seemed drawn to Jane. Friends, family, and even those she barely knew, confided in her, and she always seemed to have the right thing to say. Jane could easily make conversation with anyone, even the most introverted or quietest people. She had some very difficult times in her life, and through it all she persevered, and even thrived, raising her children by herself and navigating multiple physical setbacks over the years. Jane was a force.

Jane is preceded in death by her parents, Don and Rachael Colasanto; her husband Eugene Mihalick; her daughter Karen Mihalick; and close friends Judy, Sue, Peggy, and Bonnie.

Surviving are her daughter, Kristina Lombardi and her husband Scott of Middlesex; and her son Scott Mihalick and his wife Wendi Zimmerman of Bridgewater; grandchildren Luke and Sam Lombardi, and Zoe, Anastazia, and Eliza Mihalick; sisters Barbara Parker of Branchburg and Dorothy Mazzitelli of Durham, NC; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom held a very special place in her heart.

Visitation will take place at Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 East Main Street, Bridgewater, NJ, on Friday, July 26, 2024 from 3pm to 7pm. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association.
