James A. Langenbach
Bridgewater- James A. Langenbach, 75, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, March 8, 2023. Son of the late Arthur and Ann Langenbach, Jim was born and raised in Somerville and then moved to Bridgewater 32 years ago. Jim was a 1965 graduate of Somerville High School and served in the United States Navy as well as the Peace Corps. Jim was a career firefighter for the City of Newark. At the age of 50 he graduated the police academy and became Chief of Detectives for the Newark Arson Squad. He retired from the City of Newark Fire Department as a Deputy Chief. After retiring for two weeks he went back to work for the Department of Health and Senior Services. Jim then went on to work at the NJSP ROIC for Homeland Security. Jim was one of many that took part in the rescue and recovery operations in NY on September 11th. He was a member of the Newark Fire Department Pipes and Drums Band and was a member of Central Hook & Ladder #1 in Somerville. Jim enjoyed coaching baseball and was very involved with his grandchildren’s sports. He was predeceased by his brother, John Langenbach. Jim leaves behind to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 51 years, Suzanne (Neesen) Langenbach of Bridgewater; children, Dolores Langenbach and fiance, Shawn Giordano of Raritan, Robert Langenbach and wife, Ana of Gibbsboro, James Langenbach and wife, Nicole of Arnold, MD; grandchildren, Lucas, Tyler, Mason, Otto, Paige and Reid. The world lost a beautiful soul and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Visiting hours will be 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at the Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 East Main Street, Bridgewater, NJ 08807.
