Jacqueline Humphrey Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jacqueline A Humphrey, from Manville NJ, at the age of 79.   Jacqueline “Jackie” left us on February 20, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.    Jackie’s kind smile and supportive nature encouraged you to sit and talk for a while, family and friends fondly remember seeking her advice.   Jackie was a breast cancer survivor, never slowing down during treatment.  That same strength also encouraged her daughters to break boundaries.

Born in Newark, NJ in 1946 to Frieda and Richard Selander Jr,  Jackie grew up in Irvington, NJ.  She graduated from Irvington High School in 1964.  Jackie was working as a teller at Midlantic Bank, when she married Bill Humphrey in 1967 when he returned from Vietnam.    She stayed at home to raise her daughters, before returning to the banking field.   Jackie obtained her Paralegal degree from  Fairleigh Dickinson and worked as a Paralegal for Midlantic Bank in Menlo Park, then for the law firm of Collier, Jacob, and Mills in Somerset, NJ until her retirement.

Jackie followed stock car racing, and become a reporter for the Area Auto Racing News.   She met Bill at the Flemington Speedway.   She followed Nascar and was a Tony Stewart fan.  Jackie enjoyed birdwatching, nature photography, and was an avid reader.     She loved the outdoors, and enjoyed summers and boating at Lake George, but her real joy was found at their place in the Tug Hill Plateau, NY, where they rode snowmobiles and ATV’s.   Jackie enjoyed sitting outside, watching the birds on their custom feeders.

Jackie spent the majority of her early years in Irvington, NJ, until Bill and Jackie moved the family to Manville, NJ in the 1980’s, where they currently reside.    She is predeceased by her parents, Frieda Mae (Strand) Selander, and Richard D. Selander Jr.  She is survived by her husband William Humphrey Jr.  Daughters:  Lisa Humphrey and Duke, Julie Humphrey and Jerry.    All grand fur babies were cherished and spoiled.

Private funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 E. Main Street, Bridgewater, NJ 08807.
