Gretchen Mensing Mundy

Branchburg – Gretchen Mensing Mundy was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She passed away at her home in Branchburg surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at age 77.

Gretchen was born in Plainfield to the late John and Sally Mensing. She was raised in Bridgewater and was a graduate in 1961 from Somerville High School.  Shortly after high school she resided in Finderne until moving to Branchburg in 1966. Gretchen married the love of her life and high school sweetheart, Thomas A. Mundy. Together, they raised eight children. After being a devoted mother, Gretchen returned to college and earned an associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education and graduated with Honors from Raritan Valley Community College. Her great passion for working with children led her to several pre-school jobs in the area, most recently at Kangaroo Kids in North Branch.

Gretchen was a skilled piano player and could play music by ear. She enjoyed traveling to the beach and to Massachusetts with her family.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory a loving husband of over 58 years, Thomas; children, Richard Mundy, Sheila Mandato and husband, Paul, Clint Mundy, Sean Mundy and wife, Lisa, Sara Sessler and husband, Bill, Josh Mundy, Wendy Husson and husband, Dan, Jamie Kraska and husband, Jason; grandchildren, Grace, Paolo, Sheila, and Pietro Mandato, Ryan and Jason Mundy, Thomas John “TJ” and Patrick Mundy, Phoebe and Sam Sessler, Josephine and Jackson Mundy, Scarlet, Colton, Lillian and Margot Husson, Nora Kraska; sister, Sheila Imhauser; and nieces, Gail Imhauser and Karen Karas.

Private cremation was held by Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 East Main Street, Bridgewater, NJ 08807.
