Geraldine (Sica) Murray

Geraldine (Sica) Murray, 85, loving mother and wife, passed away peacefully at her home in Bridgewater on Friday, January 14, 2022. Jerie was the oldest child of the late Mildred (Muccino) Sica and Joseph A. Sica.
Jerie was born on May 9, 1936 in Hoboken, NJ. A graduate of Union Hill High School, Union City, NJ in 1954, she married Richard P. Murray, Sr. on June 14, 1964 and resided on Staten Island, NY until the family moved to Bridgewater in 1973.
After graduating from high school, Jerie went on to graduate from Boroughs Business School and then went on to work in several brokerage houses on Wall Street, NYC as a bookkeeper until choosing motherhood as her full-time role. In 1976, Jerie rejoined the workplace with Eisenhower School, Bridgewater, NJ working with teachers, staff and beloved students as a Teacher’s Aid up to and even after retirement. Jerie took such joy and pride in her work at Eisenhower School, she loved working with teachers and interacting with students and staff. Many students and staff fondly remember Jerie as “The Copy Lady” and she referred to her Teacher’s Aid room as her ‘confessional’ for teachers and staff.
In addition to her love for her work and children, Jerie loved nothing more than to cook and put together a feast for her family and to share, research, and perfect recipes. Known by many as an amazing cook, Jerie took true joy in filling the hearts and stomachs of those she knew and loved. She was well known for her Pizzelle’s and made them by the dozens for many family gatherings.
Jerie was a devout catholic and a communicant of St. Bernard Roman Catholic church for more than 45 years; she held a special place in her heart for the Blessed Mother.
She is survived by her husband of more than 57 years, Richard Murray Sr, her son, Richard Jr & his wife, Jennifer (Day) Murray of Hillsborough; her daughter, Lisa (Murray) Fitzgerald and her husband Darren M. Fitzgerald of Upper Black Eddy, PA, one grandson, Nicholas A. Murray of Hillsborough, NJ, her brother, Anthony J. Sica and his wife, Rene of Surprise, AZ along with more than 20 nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Visitation will be held from on Thursday, January 20, 2022 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 East Main Street, Bridgewater, NJ 08807. Prayers will be said 9 AM on Friday, January 21, 2022 at the funeral home followed by a 10AM mass at St. Bernard Roman Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery in Bridgewater.
