Gerald Anthony Burshnick, 87, of Bridgewater, NJ died December 30, 2025.Born in
Forest City, PA on October 21, 1938, he was the son of the late Rudolph and Mary Burshnick. He was happily married to his wife of 61 years, Ann Marie Vagonis Burshnick
Mr. Burshnick graduated from Forest City High School, Forest City, Pa. and joined the US Air Force. He served in the USAF Security Service and was stationed in Japan, Korea, California, and Texas before an honorable discharge as Airman First Class. He moved to Middlesex, NJ. He retired in 2004 as a layout supervisor with Harris Structural Steel, South Plainfield, NJ after 44 years of service.
He met his wife Ann Marie Vagonis in Scranton, PA and they enjoyed 61years of marriage living in Piscataway NJ. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and uncle. He enjoyed walking, gardening, cooking, and playing the lottery and had a great sense of humor. In 2023 Gerald and Ann Marie moved to The Delaney of Bridgewater, a retirement community.
He was predeceased by his brothers David Burshnic, Rudolph Burshnic, James Burshnick, Robert Burshnick, Thomas Burshnick, Father Francis Burshnick SJ, Fredrick Burshnick and sister, Marie Wynn. He is survived by his wife, Ann Marie, three daughters, Lisa Marie Puzio (Walter) Locust, NC, Cheryl Ann Izzo, Piscataway, NJ, and Christine Genthe (Eric), Clinton MS. He was blessed with four grandchildren, Victoria Puzio, Christopher Puzio, Brenna Genthe and Tanner Genthe. He is also survived by a sister, Margaret Jones (Frederick), Copperas Cove, TX as well as by many nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Condolences may be extended to the family from 8:30 AM- 9:30 AM on Thursday, January 15, 2026 at the Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 East Main Street, Bridgewater, NJ 08807 followed by a 10AM Mass at Blessed Sacrament Church, located at 1890 Washington Valley Road, Martinsville, NJ.
