South Plainfield- George F. Gehring, Jr., 80, died peacefully on Saturday, May 30, 2020 at JFK-Hospice in Edison. Son of the late George F. Gehring, Sr. and Mary (McGlade) Gehring, George was born in Newark and lived the past 50 years in South Plainfield. George was a Coil Winder and worked for Western Electric/Lucent Technologies for 33 years and then went on to work at Bamboo Abbott until his retirement. He was an avid fisherman and loved being with his family, especially his grandchildren. He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Vivienne (Ratchford) Gehring in 1992; brother, Thomas Gehring; sister-in-law, Lois Gehring, and brother-in-law, Richard Allen Vaughn. George leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved children, Lisa Lippincott and husband Todd, Dana Jo Martino and husband Frank, Eric Gehring and wife Kathleen; grandchildren, Kyle, Kevin, Jeanne, and Konnor; brother, Joseph Gehring and wife Yolanda, and sister, Anna Vaughn.  He is also survived by numerous loving in-laws, nieces, nephews and a host of long-time friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to South Plainfield EMS or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  Private funeral arrangements with burial at Holy Redeemer Cemetery in South Plainfield have been entrusted to the Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 East Main Street, Bridgewater, NJ 08807.  A memorial mass will be offered at a date to be determined.
