Darryl Wallace passed away peacefully in his home at age 81 on March 20, 2026. Born and raised in Chesterfield, South Carolina, he graduated from Chesterfield High School. He came to New York City in 1962, where he began a very successful career in the financial industry. He lived for a time in the Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn and Staten Island before moving to Bridgewater in 1994.
Darryl was a loving husband, a dedicated father to his children, and a wonderful grandfather. His spare time was spent with his children, coaching various sports teams, acting as cubmaster and just being there for them. He was a lover of baseball and an avid Yankee fan and always the anchor on bowling teams.
Darryl is survived by his wife of 51 years, Gail, daughter Karen Koehler and husband Scott, daughter Susan Straight and husband Mike, son Kevin Wallace and wife Trish, son James Wallace and wife Laura, daughter Kate Dorsey and husband Keine, and daughter Laura Davis and husband Cole. He is also survived by grandchildren Kaitlin, Samantha, Justin, Alessandra, Trevor, Max, Harper, Luke, Mia, Miles, Mason, Oliver, Ronan, Madison and Avery, and sisters Linda Taylor and Mary Oletta Deese. He is predeceased by his mother, Mary Dell Adams, and sisters Vera Kay Adams and Marcia Tolson.
Visiting hours will be held from 11-12:30 PM with a service beginning at 12:30 PM on Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at the Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 E. Main Street, Bridgewater, NJ 08807.
