Ferdinand A. Zito

Somerset- Ferdinand A. Zito, 95, died peacefully on Sunday, October 16, 2022 at RWJUH-Somerset. Son of the late Augostino and Stella Zito, Fred was born in Mariners Harbor, Staten Island. He spent most of his life of 62 years in Dongan Hills with his wife and children. 
He then moved to the Renaissance at Raritan Valley in Somerset in 2018. Fred was a WWII US Army Veteran and served in Korea. Starting  as a mechanic, he eventually worked his way up to supervisor for maintenance and precious metals for Nassau Smelting and Refining in Staten Island for 31 years retiring in 1986. Fred was a communicant of St. Mary of Czestochowa Church in Bound Brook. He will be sadly missed by his loving family and friends. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 71 years, Amelia Zito of Somerset; children, Barbara Costa and husband, Dominick of MD, Fred Zito of Somerset; and granddaughter, Danielle Costa. He was predeceased by his four siblings, Teresa, Angelina, Giorolomo and Francesco. Visiting hours will be held from 9AM-10AM on Monday, October 24, 2022 at the Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 East Main Street, Bridgewater, NJ 08807. The funeral mass will follow at 10:30 AM at St. Mary of Czestochowa Church in Bound Brook. Entombment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery in Piscataway.
