Faber Fedor, a longtime Somerville resident known for his sharp wit, boundless curiosity, and love of community, passed away on October 16 after bravely fighting his fourth bout of cancer. He was 65.

Born on April 15, 1960, to Adrian and Doreine Fedor, Faber became a gifted programmer and technologist. A true original, he blended intellect with irreverence, moving between coding projects, local meetups, and music gatherings with equal enthusiasm.

Faber made Somerville, New Jersey, his home and heart. He founded and led a popular social networking and dining club that connected locals long before social media made it easy. Though he often described himself as a hermit, he loved people, ideas, and a good laugh shared over a meal and a cigar.

A lifelong geek at heart, Faber’s interests spanned technology, music of every genre, and reading anything that fed his restless mind. In his later years, he devoted time to developing Charity Opus, a social-impact publishing project that combined his love of books with his desire to do good. To learn more, visit CharityOpus.com.

He was preceded in death by his parents and leaves behind many friends and neighbors who will remember him for his humor, intelligence, and fierce independence.

In lieu of flowers, and in keeping with Faber’s love of music and community, donations may be made to the School of Rock in Somerville, where a scholarship fund will be established in his name to help young musicians pursue their passion.
