Elin R. S. Larsen

Our mother, Elin Snede Larsen, sadly passed away on November 15, 2023, at the age of 78 after a long battle with dementia. She was born in Bergen, Norway where she lived with her parents and younger brother until her 20’s. She had dreamed of moving to the United States and accomplished that dream when she came to work as an au pair for a year. She often told the story how she had travelled by ship from England to New York, only to arrive in New York, during a taxi strike during one of the hottest days that summer while feeling seasick. She loved the United States as soon as she stepped foot in New York. She did have to move back to Norway after her year as an au pair, where she met her husband of 22 years, John-Ove Larsen. They moved to the United States shortly after they married to start their family.

Elin was an administrative assistant for over 30 years working in New York and New Jersey. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, listening to Neil Diamond and classical music, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. One of Elin’s favorite past times would be to sit outside during a hot summer day with a book and a glass of wine.

She is survived by her daughter, Monica Larsen-Kiley and husband, James Kiley, Jr., grandson, Brian Kiley, granddaughter, Cecilia Kiley and her son, John-Erik Larsen.

Visiting hours will be held from 4-7PM on Monday, November 20, 2023 at the Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 East Main Street, Bridgewater, NJ. Cremation will be held privately.
