Eleanore "Doris" Caporaso

Eleanore "Doris" Caporaso, age 98, died peacefully on Saturday, August 24, 2024. Doris was born in San Bartolomeo, Provincia di Benevento, Italy, to the late Lorenzo and Carmela Monaco. She was the youngest of six children. She immigrated to the United States in the 1930's, where she began a new chapter in her life.

On October 5, 1947, Doris married Anthony Caporaso, with whom she raised three beloved children: Daniel, Dolores, and Eleanor. Doris was a devoted homemaker and was also known for her work at Smooth-On Plastics and Linda’s Firesite Inn. She played a vital role in the family business, Acme Paving, which was owned by her husband, Anthony, in Warren.

A talented cook and seamstress, Doris was renowned for her hospitality. She loved entertaining guests and was particularly passionate about ballroom dancing. Her warmth and generosity touched the lives of many, and she will be remembered for her vibrant spirit and unwavering dedication to her family and friends.

Doris is predeceased by her beloved husband, Anthony Caporaso, daughter, Eleanor Skaar and son, Daniel A. Caporaso; and her four siblings, Mary, Josephine, Rose, Anthony and Filomena. 

Doris is survived by her beloved daughter, Dolores Caporaso of Warren; grandchildren, Jennifer Spada, Sarah Viquez (Jorge), Thomas Caporaso (Lauren), Michael Caporaso, and Lucy Skaar; great-grandson, Anthony; daughter-in-law, Dr. Kathleen Neville-Caporaso and son-in-law, Donald V. Skaar.

Visiting hours will be held from 9am-11am on Friday, August 30, 2024 at the Bridgewater Funeral Home,707 E. Main St., Bridgewater, NJ 08807. Burial will follow, 12noon, at St. Teresa of Avila Cemetery in Summit.

 Doris’s legacy of love, kindness, and joy will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will be deeply missed.
