Elaine Dwyer

Elaine Dwyer, 83, passed away peacefully on the evening of Tuesday, September 9, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born in Jersey City, Elaine was the daughter of the late Edward and Anna Hughes. She spent much of her life in New Jersey, residing in Cherry Hill before settling in Bridgewater in 1968. She was a dedicated employee of L’Oréal in Piscataway, working in quality control until her retirement in 2005. 

She was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Laynie Dwyer, in 2022, and her cherished granddaughter, Maureen Brigid Dwyer, in 2005. Their memories remained close to her heart always.

She is survived by her devoted husband of over 63 years, Lawrence R. Dwyer, who was her steadfast partner and dearest companion. Together, they built a legacy of love and family. She leaves behind her children: Edward Dwyer and wife Jody of Asbury; Lawrence R. Dwyer, Jr. and wife Maureen of Somerville; Gamble Dwyer of Clinton; William Dwyer and wife Erin of South Carolina; and Lyn Spataro and husband Joseph of Utah.

Elaine was also a loving sister to Karen Quinn and husband Donald of Rhode Island.

She will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren: Lawrence R. III, Shawn and wife Carly, Casey, Patrick, Stephen, Bill, Katie, Mary, Martha, Ruth, Hope, and Arthur; and her great-grandchildren: Clayton and Callahan.

Her warmth, quiet strength, and unwavering love will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew her.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, September 14, 2025, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 E. Main Street,  Bridgewater, NJ 08807. Prayers will be offered at 9:00 AM on Monday, September 15, 2025, at the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at Immaculate Conception Church in Somerville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Adult Day Center of Somerset County, 872 E. Main Street, Bridgewater, NJ 08807.
