Somerset- Douglas "Doug" Allen, Jr., 85, died peacefully on Saturday, September 18, 2021. Son and only child of the late Douglas Allen, Sr. and Anna (Krause) Allen, Doug was born and raised in Staten Island, NY. He later lived in Branchburg and, since 2014, lived in Somerset, NJ at the Four Seasons at Sterling Point. He was a graduate of Wagner College where he received a BS degree in Chemistry. He then went on to the US Army from  1958-1960. Doug worked his entire career as a research scientist for Johnson and Johnson, C.R. Bard among a few other corporations. To cherish his memory, he leaves behind, his beloved wife of 37 years, Doreen (Yampaglia) Allen; children, Robert Allen and Brendan Allen; and 5 grandchildren. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, September 24, 2021 from  8:30 am- 10am at the Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 East Main Street, Bridgewater, NJ 08807. A funeral mass will be offered 10:30 am Friday, September 24, 2021 at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Church, 500 Rte 22 West, Bridgewater, NJ 08807.   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
