Dorothy Van Doren

Dorothy (Gabryelski) Van Doren died peacefully at home on October 25, 2024.  She resided in Manville for almost the entirety of her life.  She is predeceased by her husband of 44 years Robert M. Van Doren; her daughter Andrea Van Doren and her daughter Karen DeFazio.  She is survived by her sons Robert S. Van Doren, Michael Van Doren, and her daughter Lorraine Mastalski.  Dorothy had two loving grandchildren, Christopher Mastalski (Michelle), and Rachel Howell-Conkey (Ryan).  She was great-grandmother to Ryan, Maverick, and Beckham.

Dorothy worked for the Manville Water Department before raising her family.  She worked as a cafeteria monitor at Manville High School for several years before becoming a Buyer for Ethicon where she continued until retirement.  She was a Girl Scout Leader and a devoted parent to her children’s interests as they were growing up.  Dorothy was an avid reader and an accomplished sewer and needleworker.  She was a former member of the Sacred Heart Church Choir and the Bound Brook Moose Lodge.

A private celebration of her life will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Heart Association.
