Dominick Lore Obituary

Dominick Angelo Lore, 97, experienced a sudden medical episode & passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at his home in Bridgewater, New Jersey, with his loving daughter Lauri and his cherished grandchildren Alex, Chazz, Anna, Maria and Sophia at his side.

Born and raised in Jersey City, New Jersey, during the Great Depression, Dominick was the son of the late Filippo and Lucia Lore. He grew up in Jersey City before proudly serving his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Upon returning home, Dominick began working at Lipton Tea where he met the love of his life, Anna, then began a long and dedicated career with Maxwell House in Hoboken, New Jersey, where he worked as a respected production line leader. Soon after they married, they devoted themselves to raising their six children in Jersey City. He worked tirelessly to support his family, to send them to Catholic School and provide for them. He was a jack of all trades, constantly doing repairs on his house or working in the yard tending to his precious fig tree and grape vines.

He had a devotion to Our Blessed Mother Mary and was the oldest living member of the Maria S.S. Del Buoncammino Society, an organization dedicated to honoring the Blessed Mother with an annual two-day feast.  He lived each moment in anticipation and preparation for the next feast.  If it was up to him, instead of a two-day feast it would have been every day, 365 days per year.  That’s how much it meant to him and how much joy it brought to him. He was a faithful steward of Our Lady of Victories Church in Jersey City, N.J. where he attended daily mass and volunteered his time and abilities to assist whenever needed. He felt honored and blessed to serve as a Eucharistic Minister at mass. After Sunday mass, he would administer Holy Communion to those who were homebound and help with deliveries of Meals-On-Wheels.

In 1988, at the age of 60, Dominick took early retirement to devote himself fully to caring for his beloved wife, Anna, until her passing in 1997.  His next and greatest calling came with raising his two precious granddaughters, Anna and Maria. The love he had for them was immeasurable. They brought so much joy, meaning and happiness to his life.  They were his reason for living.

During his free time, he wrote a memoir and published it into a book called “A Lifetime of Memories and Prayers”. It is a compilation of many stories of his life that took him many years to write. He was so proud of this accomplishment and cherished being able to share his memories and stories in writing.

In later years, after numerous medical problems, he found great joy and comfort in the home of his daughter, Lauri, son-law, Mike and his two grandsons, Chazz and Alex where he lived for over 16 years, a place he truly felt safe and cared for. He taught them by example how to cherish all the little things in life and how to love unconditionally with humility, compassion and faith. A devoted man of faith, Dominick was a communicant of St. Bernard Church in Bridgewater, New Jersey. He volunteered at summer bible camp and was a member of the church’s men’s club. Dominick had a deep love for travel, exploring nearby destinations or venturing abroad. He especially cherished time spent at the Jersey Shore, Florida, Hawaii and Caribbean beaches. His favorite activity was searching for shark’s teeth on Venice beach.  One of his greatest adventures was to Portugal and Italy where he visited the Shrine of Fatima and The Vatican. He will be fondly remembered for his sense of fun, his adventurous spirit, his obsession with coffee, cheesecake and strawberry ice cream and for the love and child-like joy he felt every time he sat in his favorite window seat on an airplane, in awe of the view.

He was predeceased by his loving wife, Anna Lore, and his beloved son, Philip Lore who always said he wanted to outlive him.  They are finally together again.

Dominick leaves behind to cherish his memory all the children he loved unconditionally, Joseph Lore (Anne), Lauri DiBianco (Michael), MaryAnn Aceti (Harry), Lucille Cilento, Lorraine Lore, daughter-in-law, Susan Lore, and his chosen daughter, Trudy Carrara; as well as 20 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:00 AM on Friday, April 17, 2026, at Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 E. Main Street, Bridgewater, NJ 08807, followed by a 10:30 AM Funeral Mass at St. Bernard Church in Bridgewater, New Jersey. Burial will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, 340 Ridge Road, North Arlington, NJ 07031. Concluding the services, a repass will be held at  The San Carlo Banquet Hall, 620 Stuyvesant Avenue, Lyndhurst, New Jersey 07071.

In accordance with Dominick’s wishes, flowers are respectfully declined.

Instead, please consider having a Mass said in his memory. He would appreciate that more than anything.
