Christine H. Muddell

Christine H. Muddell, 85, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset in Somerville, New Jersey.

Born in Peekskill, New York, to the late Robert and Evelyn Heroy, Christine was raised in Belmar, New Jersey, and graduated from Manasquan High School with the Class of 1959. She continued her education at Wilson College, earning her bachelor's degree in 1963, and later received a Master's degree in Special Education from William Paterson University.

Christine devoted her professional life to education and was a dedicated teacher who touched the lives of countless students throughout her career. Prior to her retirement in 1985, she served as a substitute teacher at Friends School in Wilmington, Delaware.

Above all else, Christine was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She found joy in cooking, gardening, and playing golf. She was also known for her competitive spirit as an accomplished Scrabble player and for her unwavering loyalty as an avid New York Yankees fan. Her warmth, intelligence, and sense of humor will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.

Christine leaves behind to cherish her memory her beloved husband of more than 62 years, Bruce T. Muddell; her children, Samantha Praml, Jennifer Kirby and her husband, Jon, and Thompson Muddell and his wife, Angela; her cherished grandchildren, Danielle, Jeffrey, Faith, Brant, and Reece and loving brothers, Peter Heroy and his wife, Karen and Paul Heroy.

Burial of ashes will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 10:30am at Maplewood Cemetery, 169 West Main St., Freehold, NJ 07728.  Funeral services will be held at 3pm, Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at the Pluckemin Presbyterian Church,  279 Route 202/206, Pluckemin, NJ 07978. Cremation services were held privately under the direction of Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 East Main Street, Bridgewater, New Jersey.
