Charles M. Bentzinger, 92, passed away on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at Brookdale Nursing Home in Hillsborough. Charlie was born in Clifton, NJ to the late Marcel and Mary Bentzinger. Charlie was raised in Whitehouse Station and called Manville home for over 61 years before moving to Hillsborough in 2019. Throughout his career, Charlie worked for numerous companies including Allstate, as an automotive fraud investigator, retiring in 1992. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Manville, where he also volunteered with his wife, Veronica. In his spare time, Charlie enjoyed spending time with his family, especially during the holidays; and taking his sons and grandchildren deep sea fishing every summer. His warm and endearing personality will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
He is predeceased by his loving wife, Veronica (Ronnie) Bentzinger and daughter-in-law, Karen Bentzinger.
Charlie leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving sons, CJ Bentzinger, Bob Bentzinger and wife, Peg, Tom Bentzinger and wife, Kathy, and Dr. Gregg Bentzinger and wife, Donna; sister, MaryAnn Nikithser, friend, Alice Sawicki, 10 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held from 4-7 PM on Friday, April 16, 2021 at the Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 E. Main St., Bridgewater, NJ 08807. Prayers will be said 8AM Saturday, April 17, 2021 at the funeral home followed by a 9AM funeral mass at Sacred Heart Church in Manville. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
