Catherine C. DuMont

South Bound Brook – Catherine C. DuMont, 76, passed away on Monday, July 25, 2022 at her home in South Bound Brook, NJ.  Catherine was born in Somerville to the late Liberato and Catherine (Orlando) DeCastro.  She was raised in Raritan, graduated from Bridgewater Raritan High School West in 1964, and resided in South Bound Brook for the majority of her married life. She was a lifelong member of the congregation of The Catholic Church of St. Ann in Raritan.

Catherine who went by the nickname Trina is predeceased by her brothers William DeCastro and Matthew R. DeCastro. She leaves behind her husband of 52 years, William E. DuMont and her Niece Annette DeCastro with husband Thomas Carbonaro and Nephew Damon DeCastro with his wife Sheila and daughters Lauren and Gabriella. She also leaves many cousins whom she loved dearly with Carolyn Peardon Rucki and Catherine Peardon Diamente considered by her to be stepdaughters.

Catherine’s greatest joys were family, cooking and especially baking. She accumulated a substantial library of cookbooks from America’s Test Kitchen and all the great chefs. She gathered recipes from Gourmet magazine, La Cucina Italiana, Bon Apetit and many others. Family gatherings always included one of her special cakes.

There are too many memories to document here. Everyone who knew her will have a number of their own. Please keep her always in your thoughts and prayers.

Visitation will be held from 9-10:00AM, Friday, July 29, 2022 at the Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 East Main Street, Bridgewater, NJ 08807 followed by a 10:30AM funeral mass at St. Ann’s Church in Raritan, NJ. Entombment will be held at St. Bernard Mausoleum in Bridgewater.
