Carlo Rocchietti Obituary
Carlo A. Rocchietti, 89, United States Army Veteran, Beloved Husband, Dad and Pop
Carlo Rocchietti, aged 89, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on September 23, 2025.
Born in Plainfield, New Jersey to the late Joseph and Natalie (Peters) Rocchietti, Carlo was raised in South Plainfield and North Plainfield, NJ. He was a 1953 graduate of North Plainfield High School where he ran track and proudly played the trombone in the marching band.
Carlo joined U.S. Army in 1957 and was a Communications Specialist for the U.S. Army Security Agency stationed in Europe during the early years of the Cold War. He spoke often and fondly of his duties and his travels across Europe while in the Army, especially his visits with family in Italy.
After receiving an honorable discharge in 1960, Carlo returned to New Jersey and began working for Union Carbide in Bound Brook as he pursued his college degree during the evening. Carlo graduated from Rutgers University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Finance in 1970. It was at Carbide that Carlo met the love of his life, Loretta Bozzomo, who was a coworker. They were married on August 18, 1962 and had three children, Joseph, Carlo and Denise.
Carlo left Union Carbide in 1978 for a position at Lockheed Electronics in Watchung, NJ where he worked for 12 years. He finished his work career at the Somerset County Probation Department where he retired in 1998.
True to his Italian family’s furniture making roots, Carlo was a skilled and meticulous builder and remodeler. He also was a boatsman, winemaker, avid collector, reader and financial expert. Carlo’s proudest accomplishments were as a dedicated Dad to his children, and the biggest fan, along with Loretta, of his grandchildren, whether at sporting events in youth, high school or college and all other extracurricular activities in which they were involved. Carlo lived for his family--immediate and extended. Carlo was a proud American and loved his Country and community. He lived the American Dream. And, Pop achieved that Dream consistent with the teachings of Jesus Christ.
Carlo is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Loretta (Bozzomo) Rocchietti; his three children: Joseph Rocchietti and his wife Erin of Readington, Carlo Rocchietti and his wife Linda of Middlesex, and Denise (Rocchietti) Davidson and her husband Keith of Bridgewater; his beloved grandchildren: Joseph and his wife Ally, Anthony, Geena, Kayla, Ethan and Mia; and his cherished great-grandchild, Luca. He is also survived by numerous extended family members, including many nieces and nephews and their families.
Along with his parents, Carlo was pre-deceased by immediate family members: sister Marjorie (Rocchietti) Roseman and two of her children, Natalie and Robert. He was also predeceased by brothers-in-law: Elliot, Marjorie’s husband, and Vincent Mattei, the husband of Loretta’s sister, Marianne.
A private family service will be held to honor Carlo's life, arranged through Bridgewater Funeral Home.
Donations can be made in honor of Carlo A. Rocchietti to the Fund for Rutgers Cancer Institute, the facility that saved or extended Pop’s life more than once.
