Birgitta Classon

Martinsville – Birgitta Classon, 76, passed away on December 23, 2022 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Birgitta was born in Gothenburg, Sweden to the late Arthur and Elsa Larsson. She was raised in Gothenburg and later resided in Uppsala and Stockholm.  While still in Sweden, Birgitta worked as an administrative assistant.  In 1984, Birgitta and her family moved to the United States where they first lived in Bridgewater, NJ and subsequently Martinsville, NJ.

Birgitta enjoyed her family and all things relating to design, color and form. She made her home a magical place to visit and she spent a lot of time planning and organizing family events; as well as tending to her garden.  She was an outstanding cook.  Family and friends welcomed the chance to sample her delicious meals, homemade breads, and secret cookie & dessert recipes.  Birgitta traveled around the world with her husband many times and especially enjoyed spending her summers on the west coast of Sweden where she would host her extended family.  She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her and especially her close knit family.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband of 55 years, Rolf Classon; children, Peter Classon and his wife, Christina, Karin Samaritano and her husband, Christopher, and Erik Classon and his wife, Connie; grandchildren, Anna and Margaret Classon and Josefin and Oskar Classon; and sister, Lisbeth Beri.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 E. Main St., Bridgewater, NJ 08807 on Jan. 28th at 1 PM with a memorial service at 1:30PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St Jude Children’s Hospital.
