Bridgewater- Barbara E. Slagus, 85, died peacefully on Monday, August 29, 2022 at home in Bridgewater. Daughter of the late Adam and Gertrude Christel, Barbara was born in Bronx, NY, grew up in Queens, NY, raised her family and lived most of her life in North Plainfield, before moving to Bridgewater in 1998. Barbara was a bookkeeper for La-Z-Boy Furniture in North Plainfield retiring in 1997. She was predeceased by her husband, Peter Slagus, Jr in 2014. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her beloved children, Barbara Donar (Robert), Carol O'Neil (Mark), ELizabeth Slagus (Paul Caro), Mark Slagus (Joan); grandchildren, Katie O'Neil, Adam O'Neil (Jennifer), Zach Slagus, Beau Slagus, Christopher O'Neil (Morgan), and Molly O'Neil. Visiting hours will be held from 4-7 PM on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at the Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 East Main Street, Bridgewater, NJ 08807. Prayers will be said 9 AM at the funeral home on Thursday, September 1, 2022 followed by a 10AM mass at St. Bernard Church in Bridgewater. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
