Ascension Confessore, known to all that loved her as Sen. She was born in Santander, Spain to the late Francisco and Maria Rueda. Her Dad, a Merchant Marine was killed in a boating accident. Shortly after that, her Grandfather brought her at the age of 4, her sister, Angela and her Mother, to the United States. They came on a boat and were processed through Governor's Island with hundreds of other immigrants.
Brooklyn, NY became her home for many years. There she met the love of her life, Joe, known as Chinkie. Together they made a life and raised three children, Jimmy, Maria, and Michael. Brooklyn was a huge part of Sen's life. Her daily ritual was walking on 86th Street (the AVENUE) with her Sister and all of the kids going to the fruit markets, pork store and eventually ending up at Chock Full O'Nuts for coffee and date bread with cream cheese.
Family and friends stopping by was a regular thing and there were ALWAYS lots of Entenmanns cake on the counter. Gathering inside, sitting on the stoop or setting up a table on the sidewalk during those late summer evenings. All beautiful and fond memories.
After moving to NJ she enjoyed spending time with her children and 6 grandchildren, Nicole, Joseph, Paulie, Christopher, Ava and Alivia. Through the years, there were ups and downs, but Sen stayed proud of her family and enjoyed those around her. After losing her one love in July of 2013 Sen continued to be social with her friends and family. She loved seeing her family, including all of her grand-doggies Wisco, Nikki and Bucky. Many fun holidays spent together laughing...especially with that silly selfie stick. She also loved spending time with her Brother, Bertin and his wife, Linda. They enjoyed many lunches and good times. Something she truly cherished.
She will be strongly missed. The past 2 years were challenging, she couldn't live her life with the independence she was accustomed to. She now has peace, her health and her Chinkie. Hopefully they are on the beaches at Coney Island enjoying the sunshine and sharing a hot knish and a fudgie wudgie. Rest in peace our sweet Mommy and Grandma.
