Annmarie Carfora, 81, of Deerfield Beach, FL and Lakewood, NJ, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Archbald, PA, Annmarie was the daughter of the late Livio and Helen Mazzacco. She grew up in South Bound Brook and lived in various places including Rutherford, Jersey City, Secaucus, Bound Brook, and Lavallette, before splitting her time between Deerfield Beach and Lakewood in recent years.
A proud graduate of Bound Brook High School in 1960 and Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1964, Annmarie dedicated her career to education, teaching for many years in the Secaucus and South Bound Brook School Districts, before retiring in 2002. Her commitment to her students and her passion for teaching left a lasting impact on many. Annmarie was honored multiple times in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers, as well as Teacher of the Year in 1995.
Annmarie was predeceased by her beloved husband, Gori J. Carfora, in 2014, as well as her siblings Claude, Sharon, and Bridget. She is survived by her cherished children, Tracey Carfora and Gori L. Carfora, her daughter-in-law Tracy Aileen, and her beloved granddaughter, Hope Ann, who was the light of her world.
Also survived by sister in law, Joan Mazzacco. Annmarie will be remembered for her gorgeous smile, contagious laughter, and her pure warmth and kindness.
Visiting hours will be held from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM on Sunday, September 8, 2024, at Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 E. Main Street, Bridgewater, NJ 08807. Prayers will be said at 9 AM on Monday, September 9, 2024, at the funeral home, followed by a 10 AM Mass at St. Joseph's Church in Bound Brook. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Piscataway.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Annmarie’s honor.
