Manville- Alfred E. Nowak, 91, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, December 9, 2020. Son of the late Rudolph and Bertha Nowak, Alfred was born in Somerville and was a lifelong resident of Manville. He was a 1946 graduate of Bound Brook High School. Alfred was a US Army Veteran.  Alfred worked for the Borough of Manville  27 years retiring in 1992. In his early years, he enjoyed restoring early model Ford Thunderbirds. Alfred was a member of the Manville - Hillsborough Elks where he served five-times as  Exalted Ruler. He is survived by his children, Kimberly Nowak (Joseph Fedor), Alfred E. Nowak, Jr. (Donna McConnell), Eric P. Nowak, Kurt R. Nowak (Christine Huntington) all of Manville; grandchildren, Cassandra Lee Nowak, Kurt R. Nowak, Jr. and brother, former Mayor Rudy F. Nowak of Manville. Visiting hours will be held from 4-7 PM on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at the Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 East Main Street, Bridgewater, NJ 08807. Prayers will be said 8AM on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at the funeral home followed by a 9AM Mass at Christ the Redeemer Parish (Sacred Heart Church) in Manville. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Hillsborough.
